English Language Learner Program
The English Learner programs in the Savanna School District are designed to support students in achieving English fluency and mastering academic language, while ensuring they have fair access to the core academic curriculum and fostering a healthy self-image. English Language Development (ELD) is a daily component of the curriculum for all English Learners, delivered by appropriately credentialed teachers who are specially trained in language acquisition and instructional strategies for English Learners.
Transitioning from English Language Learner to Fluent English Proficient
With the guidance and resources provided by the schools and educators, students enhance their language abilities while simultaneously engaging with academic content. To transition from ELL status, students must demonstrate proficiency on state and district assessments, maintain strong academic performance, and successfully pass a review conducted by teachers, administrators, and parents.
