Welcome to the Reid School
Welcome back to all returning families and a big WELCOME to all new families. I am so proud and honored to volunteer as your PTA President this year with an amazing group of parent volunteers, a dedicated PTA Executive Board, wonderful teachers, and a Principal who truly embodies every one of our 4 ROCK Values.
As Reid family, we aim to continue the PTA mission to positively impact the lives of all children and families. Engaging in homework, collaborating with teachers about a child’s progress and/or joining PTA, a supportive family environment that values education is vital to student achievement. Our hope this year is to continue the foundation the previous PTA Board has established.
Our children’s best interest has always been our priority. We value the importance of education. As we begin another school year, we ask for your support so that we can continue making resources and learning opportunities available to our students and Reid staff. Your membership allows the PTA to raise funds to provide a wide range of educational enrichment programs for the students. Funds raised through your membership, and awesome fundraisers are used to help to purchase classroom supplies, technology, a subsidize field trips and assemblies.
Over the years, the PTA has provided many learning opportunities and social activities that enrich students' learning experiences with programs such as Meet the Masters, Book Fairs, Red Ribbon Week and more. PTA also coordinates services such as offering disaster packs and school T-shirts as well as giving back by providing Holiday Food Baskets for our families in our community.
As your PTA Board, we're continually learning; this sometimes involves new fundraising ideas and events and trying to work more efficiently. Last school year we hosted Family Movie Night, Buster Balloons at Reid’s Outdoor Learning Center, and Books for Bingo. We plan to continue this as well as adding a couple of new events, such as more family fun nights and a Holiday Gift Shop.
For the PTA to be effective and truly representative of the school, everyone’s participation is essential. Many parents feel that they cannot participate in the PTA because they are not available during the day. We want everyone to feel that they are part of the Reid community. Whether you have 30 minutes or a couple of hours, your ideas, your time, your talents and your VOICE are all truly needed. Keep in mind that by volunteering at our school, you will get to enjoy interacting with the kids, become friends with other parents, and accomplish things that truly make a difference.
